Toni De Mello talks about her role at UTSC as the Diveristy and Equity Officer (2013-2026). She shares her early childhood experience emigrating to Canada from the United Arab Emirates, her love of learning, and her roughly 15-year career in equity, diversity and inclusion. She speaks about her work in consulting internationally for the United Nations and at UTSC. She talks about building a sense of community to create a sense of ownership and belonging that can contribute to creating a safe space where people can "voice times where we feel like the community could do better."
