Kathleene Smith, the first business officer in the Department of Computer and Mathematical Sciences (CMS), reflects upon her career at UTSC since 2002. She talks about her early life, her hiring process, the changes in her roles and responsibilities over the years, the Scarborough Campus community and its comparison to St. George, and her experience working in the Department of CMS. Kathleene also reflects upon the changes she has witnessed on campus, both in regards to the campus’ expansion, the growth of the CMS Department, and the changes that she has witnessed in the faculty and students. Also having lived downtown and worked at UTSG for 14 years, Kathleene compares her experiences downtown with UTSC and the Scarborough community.
