Professor Neil ten Kortenaar began teaching at UTSC as a graduare student the 1980s. After completing his undergraduate degree in English at UofT , Professor ten Kortenaar taught in Nigeria returning to Toronto to complete his graduare work. After graduate school, he taught in China for a year, held appointments at the Universite Sainte-Anne, Nova Scotia and Concordia in Montreal before coming to UTSC in 1997. Prof. ten Kortenaar reflects on his experience of being on a smaller campus in the late 1980s and the dramatic growth in student numbers and diversity in the post-2000 time period. Professor ten Kortenaar talks about his approach to teaching English courses, and his experience as an administrator at both the St. George and Scarborough campuses. As of summer 2020, Prof. ten Kortenaar is the Chair of the English department at UTSC.
