As a Scarborough native and later principal of UTSC from 2014-2018, Bruce Kidd recounts his connections with the campus. He discusses his time frequenting Highland Creek Valley as a child and his recruitment to the UofT track team as a young runner from Malvern Collegiate. As a faculty member on the St. George campus during the 70s, Bruce reflects on the “U of T federalism” that he observed when it came to the underfunding and disparity of UTSC and UTM compared to the St. George campus. Bruce looks back positively at his time as principal at UTSC as he described being a “cheerleader” for Scarborough and an advocate for the campus, connecting to campus changes such as the Pan Am Centre and the renovated Valley trail.
