Description
Julie Witt, a former student (2001-2005) and current Integrated Learning Experience (ILE) Team Lead at UTSC, reflects on her time at the school and her path to her current position. She remarks on how diverse the campus felt when compared to her childhood town, and the difference between student experiences in residence and as a commuter. Julie speaks about how UTSC has become more connected to the Scarborough community, and how she has been involved in that. She describes the sometimes-painful process of supporting cultural programming during 'departmentalization' and how age and gender have impacted her workplace experience. Julie speaks about the importance of equity and diversity in students, staff and faculty. She also explains the changes in how experiential learning is managed at UTSC, and how we must be mindful of the realities of industry partners.
